The New Semester

Yes, 2009 will be a very good year---I know so already! Today was the first day of classes and it seems like so many of my academic dreams are materializing all at once. This semester, I'm taking one creative writing class, French films (in French), Russian Cinema (in English), Writing & Rhetoric Workshop II, an introduction to the English major, a class about the making and history of books, and Choices in Consumer Society (sort of a life skills class about consumer banking, buying a house, etc.) These are exactly the types of courses a young writer and film actress should take.

Something else that gave me a good vibe was my meeting with Steven Traubert, a local aspiring playwright and story writer. If all goes according to plan---and it seems that it shall---I will help critique and act out a few of his scripts and possibly illustrate at least one of his children's stories with my collages.

And on two final miscellaneous notes: 1) I applied for a travel scholarship with the English-Speaking Union today that would allow me to study English language and literature. It's very competitive so I don't expect to receive it. I'm just crossing my fingers, 2) I'm starting a new writing & photography project for my fashion blog, as well. Be sure to check it out here.
